Sugar&Spice

To me, getting all dolled up is one of the best parts of being a woman. For this look I built my outfit around this bomber jacket and choker. I'm here for the choker trend among other 90's trends since we didn't really get to fully embrace them the first time around. There's a certain naughty quality to chokers yet they can be so versatile.I like that this look is kinda girl meets free spirit with a sprinkle of urban roots, just like me. My mother calls me her free spirited child, I think id agree with that.

Shes So Lucky

I never used to believe in "lucky" items, I thought that was strictly for superstitious teenage boys. That is until I bought this shirt. I've landed my last 3 jobs in this shirt, gotten out of tickets in this shirt, even went on first dates in this shirt. As my friend Destiny would say this is my "most conservative outfit". Everyone knows my style can be very trend driven as well as tight fitted. But its nice to switch it up sometimes. This shirt is extremely versatile it can be dressed up or down. I love that from the front its super minimal and all the focus is on the color but once I turn around its a nice little surprise. Brittany is in the details ;)

Phuck Yo Standards

Pants & Necklace - Rainbow, Crop top - F21, Vest - adapted by me
A few weeks ago I was scrolling through Instagram and showed a group of my coworkers a look I liked from another plus size fashion blogger. She was a shorter woman that had a little stomach and was wearing a crop top. My coworkers pretty much unanimously dissed her look saying she should "dress for her body". Now mind you this isn't the first time Ive heard that but at that point it occurred to me the issue with that statement is that it that the opinion is not the persons own. People say "dress for your body" but they really mean dress according to the standard that society has suggested according to YOUR body. If a big girl with a little tummy is comfortable bearing her midriff then who says she's not dressing for her body? Fashion is a form of SELF expression how is anyone going to tell you how you feel about YOURSELF? So I say phuck the standards! Dress for YOUR mood and how you perceive and want to adorn/display YOUR body. The only persons whose opinion that should matter is your own. This ones for all the big girls that got told crop tops weren't for them

Talk Down On Me Im Flattered.

I wore a more sporty version of this outfit to a recent Bulls game. I've become very found of onesies; they make a super streamlined silhouette and can be paired with almost anything. One downside is some of them snap at the bottom (yes like when you were 7) and thats super inconvenient at times. I was weary of the vest at first too especially with my proportions of having an extremely short torso and long legs; but its a nice alternative to a jacket or sweater and a subtle block when I dont want to draw attention to my backside. These leggings are easily my favorite new item. Leather can be tricky as times but as long as there's sufficient stretch and they're thick enough it works.

Plus Size Kim K

Anyone who knows me knows I love Kim Kardashian West. Over the years Ive been completely obsessed with her style. Shes such a big influence in today's fashion. For this shoot I channeled my inner KKW and pretended I was actually staying at this fancy hotel waiting to go to an event of course taking selfies while I waited for my car. When I first saw her in her fitted midi length turtle neck dress I just had to have one like it. Luckily  REBDOLLS supplied my needs. I'm not usually a fan of turtle necks. Even when I was younger I refused to wear them.Same still applies the rest of the dress is so comfortable thick with just enough stretch but I definitely prefer my neck to be free. Anyways, Happy birthday to the baddest MILF around!

The Plus Size Black Barbie

I truly believe that we as humans all eventually turn back into the person we were when we were kids. As a kid I was a pink loving, creative, free spirit. Ive loved dressing up since I was young and I guess I've never stopped. I wore this look a couple months ago to my best friend's wedding. I loved the way this dress hung to my body and the boning made the girls nice and secure. It was a big hit at the wedding I just wish my hair was like this at the time. This dress is definitely a keeper!

*Sends Nudes*

I thoroughly believe every woman should have a white moment, a red moment and a nude moment (clothed of course). This Stacked Apparel dress was my moment in the nude. I generally am not a big fan of shoulder bearing necklines but it gave me an excuse to wear a choker necklace. I love the fact that the 90s trends are back in style. I wore this dress to my friends birthday party at Ruth Chris Steakhouse. I was very pleased with my look especially because it provided a nice canvas for my new hair color *flips hair*. Sexy, classy and chic.

Yeezy Taught Me

Olive is such a big color for fall and this season I have so much of it in my wardrobe. That coupled with the cross tie trend, I just knew I needed this dress. I originally thought that trend was reserved for the more bustier women but I decided to give it a try anyway. I wore this outfit to my first ever Kanye concert. I was inspired by his Yeezy aesthetic. Pairing tight silhouettes with over- sized boxy cut jackets gives off a sexy but down to earth vibe. And of course I had to add in my favorite combat booties no other shoes are comfortable enough for a concert and also have a heel.

You Dont Worry About Fitting in When You Custom Made

I like to think that my personal style varies. Its like a trendy mash up of classic sexy and urban basics. Which explains the outfit above. The jumpsuit is from Stacked Apparel. Ive been shopping at this online boutique for quite awhile. Their clothes usually fit like a glove which is how I prefer mine to fit. This jumpsuit was a little tight because the straps aren't adjustable and I think Im a bit taller than their models. None the less def a keeper for fall. I added some edgy accessories to spice up this look. Got to remind em we thuggin in Homewood too ;)

Rough Around the Edges

I originally wore this skirt during my recent trip to New York paired with a paisley print halter (refer to my IG page). But back home I decided to simplify it with a basic V-neck shirt. I was cleaning my room one day and saw this clutch laying next to a black purse and thought the combination of black and grey accented with orange would be perfect. Orange is the new black after all

The September Issue

Fashion is not a new interest for me. Fashion was literally my first love. Years of reading fashion magazines and watching shows has influenced both my trend consciousness and to take risks as well. The peplum trend that exploded a couple of years ago has simmered down a lot but you can still find it in some stores. I found this shirt at Rainbow and thought it was a dope twist on the silhouette. Leather is always a fall favorite as well but I think plus size women have shyed away from it. But the bigger the risk the bigger the reward and Im super happy with the way this look turned out.

As a life long fashionista I've always dreamed of going to fashion week in at least one city preferably New York London or Paris of course. Unfortunately I wont be going this year but if I was this would definitely be one of my outfits. Ill be there one day but in the mean time, a girl can dream right?
