Sugar&Spice

To me, getting all dolled up is one of the best parts of being a woman. For this look I built my outfit around this bomber jacket and choker. I'm here for the choker trend among other 90's trends since we didn't really get to fully embrace them the first time around. There's a certain naughty quality to chokers yet they can be so versatile.I like that this look is kinda girl meets free spirit with a sprinkle of urban roots, just like me. My mother calls me her free spirited child, I think id agree with that.

Shes So Lucky

I never used to believe in "lucky" items, I thought that was strictly for superstitious teenage boys. That is until I bought this shirt. I've landed my last 3 jobs in this shirt, gotten out of tickets in this shirt, even went on first dates in this shirt. As my friend Destiny would say this is my "most conservative outfit". Everyone knows my style can be very trend driven as well as tight fitted. But its nice to switch it up sometimes. This shirt is extremely versatile it can be dressed up or down. I love that from the front its super minimal and all the focus is on the color but once I turn around its a nice little surprise. Brittany is in the details ;)

Phuck Yo Standards

Pants & Necklace - Rainbow, Crop top - F21, Vest - adapted by me
A few weeks ago I was scrolling through Instagram and showed a group of my coworkers a look I liked from another plus size fashion blogger. She was a shorter woman that had a little stomach and was wearing a crop top. My coworkers pretty much unanimously dissed her look saying she should "dress for her body". Now mind you this isn't the first time Ive heard that but at that point it occurred to me the issue with that statement is that it that the opinion is not the persons own. People say "dress for your body" but they really mean dress according to the standard that society has suggested according to YOUR body. If a big girl with a little tummy is comfortable bearing her midriff then who says she's not dressing for her body? Fashion is a form of SELF expression how is anyone going to tell you how you feel about YOURSELF? So I say phuck the standards! Dress for YOUR mood and how you perceive and want to adorn/display YOUR body. The only persons whose opinion that should matter is your own. This ones for all the big girls that got told crop tops weren't for them

Talk Down On Me Im Flattered.

I wore a more sporty version of this outfit to a recent Bulls game. I've become very found of onesies; they make a super streamlined silhouette and can be paired with almost anything. One downside is some of them snap at the bottom (yes like when you were 7) and thats super inconvenient at times. I was weary of the vest at first too especially with my proportions of having an extremely short torso and long legs; but its a nice alternative to a jacket or sweater and a subtle block when I dont want to draw attention to my backside. These leggings are easily my favorite new item. Leather can be tricky as times but as long as there's sufficient stretch and they're thick enough it works.
