You Dont Worry About Fitting in When You Custom Made

I like to think that my personal style varies. Its like a trendy mash up of classic sexy and urban basics. Which explains the outfit above. The jumpsuit is from Stacked Apparel. Ive been shopping at this online boutique for quite awhile. Their clothes usually fit like a glove which is how I prefer mine to fit. This jumpsuit was a little tight because the straps aren't adjustable and I think Im a bit taller than their models. None the less def a keeper for fall. I added some edgy accessories to spice up this look. Got to remind em we thuggin in Homewood too ;)

Rough Around the Edges

I originally wore this skirt during my recent trip to New York paired with a paisley print halter (refer to my IG page). But back home I decided to simplify it with a basic V-neck shirt. I was cleaning my room one day and saw this clutch laying next to a black purse and thought the combination of black and grey accented with orange would be perfect. Orange is the new black after all

The September Issue

Fashion is not a new interest for me. Fashion was literally my first love. Years of reading fashion magazines and watching shows has influenced both my trend consciousness and to take risks as well. The peplum trend that exploded a couple of years ago has simmered down a lot but you can still find it in some stores. I found this shirt at Rainbow and thought it was a dope twist on the silhouette. Leather is always a fall favorite as well but I think plus size women have shyed away from it. But the bigger the risk the bigger the reward and Im super happy with the way this look turned out.

As a life long fashionista I've always dreamed of going to fashion week in at least one city preferably New York London or Paris of course. Unfortunately I wont be going this year but if I was this would definitely be one of my outfits. Ill be there one day but in the mean time, a girl can dream right?

Just Because We're Magic Doesn't Mean We're Not Real

I grew up in a household that was very pro black. My mother and father always instilled the ideals of being proud of both who I am and where I'm from. So needless to say I am super happy about this #BlackGirlMagic movement that has been catching on in the last couple of years. Last October I cut my hair for the first time in ten years. It was a very fundamental moment in my personal growth because in a world where European standards of beauty prevail, me cutting my hair and wearing it natural showed that Black is beautiful too. For me going natural was as much for the health of my hair as it was for a change in style. So as a newby in the movement I was super excited when I came across this shirt at the African Fest a couple weeks ago.

I think as a black woman becoming more and more self aware it's essential to show different examples of what black women are and what we stand for. The media paints us in either a negative light or makes us all stereotyped carbon copies. People are multidimensional beings. Through this blog I hope to show all sides of myself, in hopes that my non-black friends and readers can better understand campaigns like the #BlackLivesMatter and #BlackGirlMagic and realize they're more than a hashtag. So that we as black people can be re-humanized instead of fetishized, generalized and mocked through cultural appropriation. Please understand just because we're magic doesn't mean we're not real.

Fire & Desire

A true fashion girl has a uniform. Anyone who knows me knows leggings are part of mine. I've been rocking crop tops for awhile now and as soon as I put this outfit on I was for sure it would be my summer go - to. I really feel like the high waist bottom/ crop top combination is a secret weapon for us thick girls. These leggings from Torrid are THE BEST. I literally have about 7 pairs. They are thick enough for winters in Chicago but versatile enough to wear with anything. They also double as a built in shaper. This crop top from Forever 21 is really fun. I love prints and 4 years living on a Navajo reservation I find myself drawn to Aztec prints a lot. Perfect look for day parties and BBQs.

Yall Haters Corny with That "Cute For A Big Girl" Mess

...Cause I slay. I really feel like plus size women are winning right now. Ashley Greene was on the cover of Sports Illustrated, my idol GabiFresh and my "twin" Danielle Brooks were on the cover of Ebony along with Chrisette Michelle and Jasmine Sullivan. I just love that us plus size girls are having a takeover right now. Whatever size you are it's most important feeling sexy and confident in what you wear. I wore this outfit out on a first date and I felt both of those things. This rose colored body con dress is from (of course) Forever21 but it was a little tight. To disguise my tummy I draped this make-shift vest over my midsection. I bought this piece as a cardigan years ago but a little DIY trick I learned is to simply cut off the sleeves if a piece gets a little short on the arms and Voila! you have a whole new piece. The gold chain necklace is from GoJane.com. It was well worth the 10$ I spent. I wear it as much as I possibly can

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

I needed something to wear to my goddaughter's pretty in pink Sweet16. I bought a dress about a month before but being the indecisive shopaholic that I am, I couldn't wear it since I wore it before the party to another event. Naturally I had to find another outfit. I was aiming for a dress especially since blush and pink are really in right now. I stumbled across this romper while out casually "window shopping". Being a bigger woman I tend to stay away from shorts but once I tried on this romper I just fell in love.

It was perfect; a dress with shorts underneath so I didn't have to worry about revealing any secrets when I was sitting pretty or twerking. I opted out of wearing a bra because I really don't care for strapless bras and straps would've ruined the outfit. The material was thick enough that you couldn't really tell. Only downside is once I got to the party I ended up having a "bitch stole my look" moment. Wasn't expecting to be twinning with one of my goddaughters 16year old friends but I guess that's what happens when they mass produce merchandise lol

Survival of the LITtest

August is my favorite month. Not only is it my birthday month, but also the birth month of quite a few of my closest friends as well. Its safe to say August is pretty LIT. I mean duh, Its LeoSeason after all. That being said I needed a dope outfit for my friend's bday party. I bought this dress from Forever21 a few weeks ago. I was really drawn to the color, especially juxtaposed against my dark skin, The fact that it had cut outs and an exposed zipper was just the icing. Surprisingly, the dress is super comfortable even though it fits like a glove. I paired it with over-sized hoop earrings and a neutral toned clutch to keep with the military coloring. Also I mixed my metals (gold and silver accents) to add a little edge to this outfit.

Thats Too Much Sauce

There are few things better (in my opinion) than seeing a pure white dress on beautiful brown skin. I was feeling godly when I brought this mini dress from Rebdolls. And with Leo season vastly approaching what better print to accessorize in than an animal print. These are my favorite wedges from Torrid. Wedges provide the height without the discomfort of a skinny heel because all of the weight is distributed evenly. Torrid is a great place to shop for those of us with not so small feet. They go up to a size 12 and have wide widths. The sunglasses are from Ladies First and the necklace is from Forever21

WICKED WICKED WICKED WICKED

You really cant go wrong with a black dress. Black dresses are staples in every girl's wardrobe. I love this dress because its so simple and classic. Its one part Grecian one part dressy maxi. This is one of so many pieces I've bought from Rebdolls. Its a super stretchy and comfy material. The cut out and one shoulder strap was kind of an unexpected twist on the LBD. I originally bought this for my birthday trip but unfortunately that didn't happened. Guess i'll just have to save this beauty for my next excursion!

I Hate a Goofy Especially, They Always Dying to Mention Me

I love a good jumpsuit. It's a common misconception that jumpsuits are strictly for Kendall Jenner shaped women but they are so comfortable to me. I saw this jumpsuit in the Spring on my new favorite website BooHoo.com. I've ordered from them before so I know they run a little big. I was somewhat disappointed in the color because on the website it appeared to be an aqua color. Nevertheless I think it worked out in the end. I wore this jumpsuit at the beginning of the summer to accompany my best friend to her brother's wedding. I got so many compliments that night despite my hair (I had fire engine twist at the time). The stretchy material was great for eating and dancing

25 Candles

I'm a very sentimental person. I recently celebrated my 25th birthday. I really feel like turning 25 is a benchmark; half way through my twenties half way to my 30's. So in honor of this new chapter of my life I've decided to relaunch my personal style blog. My personal style has grown and developed as I have. There are a lot of style blogs out there and there are only a handful of plus size bloggers but there is only one me that's what this blog is about. Hope You guys enjoy!

Ive had this dress for over a year. I bought it from Stacked Apparel. I originally bought it for my 24th birthday but ended up going to a bar in Wicker Park which I decided wasn't special enough for this dress. So I decided to save it for the big Twenty-Fine birthday. Because just like a fine wine, I only get better with time ;)
